The national president of Morena, Ariadna Montiel Reyes, informed this Tuesday that the National Commission of Honesty and Justice opened a process against deputies Nayeli Salvatori and Grace Palomares after criticizing elderly people and mocking their smell.
In a press conference, Montiel said that she believes the rights of the legislators within the party should be suspended, just minutes after rejecting the statements made by her colleagues.
"Since yesterday, I requested the National Commission of Honesty and Justice to open a procedure so that the commission can study the case and proceed as it decides. For me, their rights should be suspended, but it is already a decision of the commission," she commented.
Ariadna Montiel reiterated several times that Salvatori and Palomares should be sanctioned for their statements that affect the elderly.
"I want to be very clear that we reject them from Morena. That cannot be the idea, the vision, or the position of someone who militates in Morena. It is Morena and the government of the Fourth Transformation that returned to our elderly a dignified old age, who gave them the opportunity to be reborn in their old age," she assured.
She also called on Morenistas to address people with respect for whom "we have fought," highlighting that the pension for the elderly amounts to 525 billion pesos for 2026.
What did Nayeli Salvatori and Grace Palomares do?
During episode 38 "Jealousy, toxicity, horns, older or younger?", the Morena deputies along with other guests mocked the smell of elderly people.
In the conversation, Salvatori laughs at a comment from another participant and emphasizes amid laughter: "Old people smell like a trunk."
For her part, Grace Palomares comments: "It's already old people's skin, so soft"; the legislator laughs at Salvatori's comment and adds: "It's just that they are already rotting, dude."
After users pointed out their comments on social media, both deputies issued a public apology and Salvatori announced the end of her program "Descasadas"; the episode is no longer available on her YouTube account.
However, Salvatori continued to mock the controversy with more videos on her social media and phrases that alluded to her comment about the "smell of a trunk."
