Security elements arrested a man transporting 217 kilograms of cocaine hidden in a vehicle traveling on a highway located in the south of Mexico City.
According to a statement from the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), this operation, carried out on the Mexico-Cuernavaca highway, also involved agents from the Attorney General's Office and the Secretariat of Citizen Security.
According to the document, a security device was established at kilometer 5 + 400 of this road, which detected that the vehicle in question was driving erratically, leading to its stop and inspection.
During this inspection, the SSPC claims, modifications were identified in the body and rear of the vehicle, within which 217 packages containing the narcotic were found.
The driver, a 38-year-old man who was not identified by authorities, was made available to the Public Ministry to determine his legal situation.
This arrest comes just over a month after a 25-year-old man was detained in the Venustiano Carranza borough of the Mexican capital with a fragmentation grenade and suspected narcotics.
The man was inspected while aboard a vehicle where, in addition to the explosive, a package wrapped in brown tape and a plastic bag containing apparent marijuana were seized, along with 21 bags with the same herb, 100 bags with a solid substance resembling cocaine, and two cell phones.
